NAME: Alison Lewis
CODE NAME: Alison Lewis
GENDER: Female
HOME STATE: Texas
DATE OF BIRTH: Don't you know you're not supposed to ask a lady this?
HEIGHT: 5' 5"
WEIGHT: See "Date of Birth," above.
HAIR: Blond
EYES: Blue
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: Pink high-tops, long, blond hair
. (When in doubt, remember: she's the blond, long-haired Guru who's not flailing like a wind-up toy.)
SPECIAL SKILLS: "Techno-craft," sewing, hacking, integrating cool tech products into handmade designs, pattern making, illustration, graphic design.
PAST PROJECTS: Alison is also the producer and host of SWITCH, an online blog that showcases technology as modern, crafty, fun, and fashionable. Alison has worked as an electronic textile designer at DuPont, and her design work has been featured around the world at venues such as the Gwangju Design Biennial in Korea and the MIT Seamless Fashion Show, as well as on France's Arte' TV, CNET, and in Wired magazine.
FUTURE PROJECTS: A book called SWITCH CRAFT, coming out fall, 2008, that features sewing projects integrated with electronics. And a few high-tech home makeovers in the mean time.
SECRET WEAPONS: Her icy blue eyes, and all the funky SoHo boutiques that are a source of her super-powers.
ACHILLES' HEEL: G-Chat! Everyone wants to chat when Alison's working.
TEAM ROLE: Alison is the Techno-Fashionista of the Gurus, bringing out the softer side of technology. Her extensive background in design and fashion ensures that the Gurus' handiwork is futuristic, functional, and fabulous.
FUN FACT: Alison was voted "most likely to be on a reality TV show" by her classmates in graduate school.
FUNNER FACT: Her grandmother is a great craftswoman whose work has been at the world's fair and is currently in the Smithsonian. Hey, is "funner" even a word?
NO, NOT REALLY. SMOOTH OR CHUNKY: Smooth.
SPICY OR MILD: Spicy, like her favorite perfumes.
SO YOU'VE GOT A FASHION BACKGROUND. DO THESE SLACKS MAKE ME LOOK FAT? Umm...is this a trick question?
YES. THEY'RE ACTUALLY JEANS, NOT SLACKS. Can I go now?
IN A SEC. IF SHE WERE A HIGH-TECH GIZMO, ALISON WOULD BE: A Boom Box Beach Bag.
NOW, IS THAT A BOOM BOX THAT LOOKS LIKE A BEACH BAG OR A BEACH BAG THAT...HEY, WHERE YOU GOING?

Way to go Alison.I always knew you would go somewhere--just wasn't sure where??? Iam going to pass this on to Paige, my daughter, who majored in interior design at Baylor and ended up as a paralegal so she could make a living. Going to Ariz. and NY were your smart moves.Keep it up, girl. Go Alison so I can say I knew you when.
