Postcards From Yo Momma

Because not everyone is '2.0' yet

Apr 07, 2008

As someone who still regularly gets mile-long email forwards from his beloved momma, complete with megabytes of full-sized photo attachments*, this site gave me quite the chuckle.

Postcards from Yo Momma is a blog compiling user-submitted, electronic correspondences from real-life mommas, often with charmingly hilarious results:

"Does your mom still have an AOL account? Does she email you her random, yet charming, thoughts on life and love? Does she wish you called more often?  Send us your postcards.

Yes, they're real!"

One of my personal faves:

"Hi honey, it’s mom. I’m just worried about your eternal soul. I love you.  Call me when you get home."

If you happen to be a momma whose prose ends up on the site, don't be discouraged, though -- you're learning and making the effort, and that's the important part! (Note to worried mommas out there: if it's your child's eternal soul that's troubling you, I'd say that might actually warrant a live visit instead of just an email.)

*By the way, in case you were wondering about the proper etiquette for emailing photos (and to help avoid seeing your emails on that site) the best bet is probably to upload them to a free photo-hosting service like Flickr, then email a link to the photos...just in case the person on the other end doesn't have FiOS!
