I caught up with Big Shane, the proud poppa of the Word family, a couple hours after their block party reveal. The show crew was breaking down and packing up, and Shane had had a little time to play around with his new toy -- check out this video:
By the way, here's a "before" photo of the same room, from day one of the shoot:

(Still nice -- the new pieces were chosen to really bring out that textured wall finish, which they kept -- but not quite as grownup-friendly.)
And here's a photo of their old TV in action ("YellowVision," as Guru Alison called it):

It was a great TV back in the day, but as you can see, it was a little past its prime (that's actually the premiere episode of My Home 2.0 on the screen, believe it or not.)
The hard-working folks at Overture Ultimate Home Electronics, Delcollo Electric, Brobst Home Improvement, and LouLou's Whimsicals really helped the Techno-Gurus knock it outta the park with this technology makeover.
While there were several one-of-a-kind items hand-crafted, tweaked, and hacked by our Gurus, this incredible entertainment center actually came with that rising-mount mechanism right out of the box. (Which means you don't need to have your home invaded by Gurus and a TV crew for three days to enjoy a setup like this -- you can just waltz right into Overture and pick one up!)
And for those of you out there who might be feeling bad for Lewis, LaShayna, Maiché, Shane Jr., and Kennedy after watching this video -- DON'T! Once you see the room the kids got, you'll realize Dad's entertainment center is just the tip of the iceberg...
(UPDATE: Check out Lewis' tour of his new digs.)
The Word family block party really was amazing -- dare I say, the best block party yet! Each one just gets better and better, so that's no huge surprise, but this one in particular was really special -- not only did son Lewis tear the roof off* with his musical performance, but we also enjoyed the company of several of our other 2.0 Families -- the Jaegers, the Kaczors and the Zaharkos -- who all met each other in person for the first time. It was one big, happy family reunion, 2.0-style.
I got TONS of great pictures and videos yesterday, and I'll keep you posted once I've had a chance to sort through them all, so stay tuned!
*Yes, smartypants, I realize it was an outdoor party, but there were many tents -- all of which were roofless after Lewis left the stage.
