Joe and Mary Wurtz were trying to get a catering business off the ground while fighting with older computer equipment. They were so worried about their kids not having good technology education that they moved them to another school. The Gurus not only set the Wurtzes up with a solid foundation for their blossoming business, but they also transformed the unused basement into a gathering place not only for friends to come over for fun and games, but for potential catering clients to sample Mary's wares.
KITCHEN:
The Wurtzes had been running a catering business out of their house for friends and family, but they're ready to take it to the next level. Mary lacked the technology to have consistent pricing for her clients or a solid way to keep inventory. The kids shared a half-broken computer and would have to email homework assignments to the neighbors if they wanted to print them out. We hooked Joe and Mary up with an automated countertop and a portable computer in the main kitchen area, plus catering software that allows them to take charge of their business. The kids got a new, FiOS-connected computer and have taken to it like ducks to water. And if anyone gets tired of cooking, Brian's mechanical peanut butter and jelly machine will make dinner automatically.
BASEMENT:
The basement had been sitting unused for some time. The Wurtzes always planned to finish it out, but never had the opportunity. They were also tired of the neighbors only coming over at halftime on Game Day to come grab snacks, then heading back home to their big TV screens to watch the second half. We set them up with a new 50" HDTV with a Guru-programmed Superfan computer that sets off lights and sirens in the room when the home team scores. They're sure to be the neighborhood destination during all the big games from now on.
