"I received a call from some guy in the UK because of the show. He wants me to design and make [an engagement] ring. How cool is that?!"
-Susan Buckley
Three adopted Russian kids got plenty of love...just not from their tired old laptop. Now they've each got state-of-the-art spaces to study and play, and a cozy home theater for family time.
Family Blog!Within minutes of the Jesserer block party ending, Daniel, Grace and Dima were already taking their new computers for a spin. Bill used his new Flip video camera to give a guided tour of the new kids' area. Grace used her new computer to write a hilarious tribute to My Home 2.0, which she and her brothers performed.
Hello everyone at My Home 2.0, I just wanted to update you on our makeover and how it is enhancing our lives...
The Gurus pulled a basement switcheroo, moving the TV area -- with new, giant HDTV and home theater system, natch -- into the larger children's play area, and using the smaller area for the kids' new computer workstations. Daniel's tiny, cluttered gaming room was turned into a "bat cave," complete with voice activated computer and secret bookcase door. Dad finally got his own home office, in a converted storage area, and Mom got a deluxe massage chair -- perfect for sitting back and enjoying the happy harmony of her home, 2.0.
These block parties just keep getting better and better. We had an amazing turnout Saturday...
Hey, busting out 3 complete high tech home makeovers in 3 weeks, I'm lucky I remember MY OWN name! :D
When the Jesserers learned they'd been chosen for the show, it was already an extra-special day, as they were celebrating the 7th anniversary of 8-year-old son Dima's adoption. But raising Dima, his sister Grace, and brother Daniel hadn't left Bill and Beth much time to keep up with technology. These days, computer access is a necessity for kids, and one sluggish laptop between all of them was hampering their schoolwork. And the whole family was on top each other -- literally, on one basement loveseat -- whenever they watched movies together.
This was the scene last time we were here -- one computer, three kids and one frazzled Mom trying to keep the peace...
Today is a doubly-special day for the Jesserer Family of Pittsburgh....
